FEBRUARY RECOMMENDATION:
THE NIGHT BEFORE VALENTINE’S DAY by Natasha Wing

It was the night before Valentine's Day, and the kids were busy not making a sound… They have their scissors and glue out, cutting paper hearts and decorating them too. At school, everything is pink and red, from the streamers and hearts to balloons hanging by a thread. Teacher gets a bouquet from her secret admirer and the kids play games, exchange cards, and have a great party. Even the principal joins in the fun by pretending he is Cupid and leaving the kids a soft furry bundle of love!

  • Make a Book Cover: Fold a sheet of paper in half so it looks like a book cover. On the up front write the title and author. Below that, draw and color a picture of a scene from the book. Inside, summarize the book.
  • Let’s make a Valentine’s Day Card!

Print out the document enclosed and cut around the card on the line. Fold the card in half on the solid line. Now, you can decorate the front and back of the card and write a Valentine’s Day message inside!
